MckLinky Monday - Crock Pot Recipes

Mrs. Priss over at the RHOK is in the driver's seat for MckLinky today and she's asking for your best crock pot recipes.

I, for one, am all about the mighty crock pot!

I LOVE my crock pot!

I NEED my crock pot!

I'd marry my crock pot, if it weren't a little weird and kinda ridiculous!

Here's a new crock pot recipe that I tried this weekend that gave THE hunter cause to say,

"Baby don't take this the wrong way,
but this is by far the best thing you've ever cooked!"

I can't decide if this makes me happy or
kinda put out that after almost 3 years of marriage this soup is the best I can do. Huh.

Anywho, here it is:

Sausage and Kale Soup (the crock pot version)

3/4 cup chopped onion (I like onions so I used 1 cup)

2 minced garlic cloves (I really really like garlic so I used 4 cloves)

2 cans reduced-sodium chicken broth (think healthy here)

2 cubed large potatoes

salt and pepper to taste

1 bunch of kale, trimmed and chopped

1 can white kidney beans

1/2 pound sliced reduced fat, pre-cooked turkey sausage

Throw it all in the crock pot, on low until the taters are soft.

Bowl it and listen to the appreciative "mmmmmm's"!!!

It's healthy! I think it figures up to be under 200 calories per bowl!!!!
So share your favorite crock pot recipes and check out the girls over at the RHOK for more!

Lake House, part 2

Here's why the lake house was so much fun last weekend:
The men worked.
Tearing down the shed.
Because my mom said so.
My brother taking some aggression out with the sledgehammer.

Damage to the shed.

Giving the o' heave ho. Going.....

Gone.

Hmmmm......now what to do with it?

Take the sledgehammer to it!

Hmmmmmmm

Now that we're done tearing stuff up,
what are we gonna do for fun???????

Mmmmm, goldfish!

Goldfish inserted!

Ooops, lost some!
Who's gonna clean up the mess?

Whiskey puppy!!!

Everyone have a great weekend!!!!!!!!

Lake House, part 1

Ok, so after the last post, which became all boo-hooie about losing the lake house (which really is tragic), I wanted to post a few pics from last weekend.

My brother, Steven (who I'm tryin to teach MY Hunter to call him Uncle Teb, which is a story all on it's own) holding MY Hunter and in the background, THE hunter....with a "little" fire behind them. This is the back of the house and the driveway coming down.

This is the front of the house with my Mom (aka Grandma Mac) and MY Hunter whom she calls Pootintoodler...poot-en-tood-ler
I don't know either, it's a my mom thing. Just go with it.
(it's another story for another day)

Me standing on the back porch of the lake house looking down at the "w-o-r-k." I HATE raking leaves at the lake house. You can't even begin to comprehend unless you're there and you can see it all. It sucks. A lot.
Anywho, Mom walking back up, MY Hunter "helping" rake leaves, THE hunter supervising the "helping", and my brother letting the "helping". If you look beyond my mom you can kinda see the boat dock.
And, yes, my brother's shirt says "white trash and wasted." Yep. So proud. Ugh.

Taking a break....from the physical exertion. More on that tomorrow. So this is part of the back porch with Whiskey (my brother/ my parents chocolate labrador puppy) getting a little tummy time from anyone willing to give him a little scratchin.
More lake house pics to come tomorrow.

Really?! Cuz Who Does That??!!!!

I have a general question for you peeps with significant others:

(and by "significant others" I mean "nosey husbands")

You go out to the mail box......get the mail.....bring it inside....thumb through it.... and find mail for your significant other that does not have your name on it and they're not home.

Do you open it or not?

There's been an issue lately with this in the Hunting Household.....and Momma's hacked!

It's not that I have anything to hide (except how much I spend in quilting fabric a month), but a girl needs some privacy, for cryin out loud!

If it ain't got yo name on it, dontcha open it!!!!!!! Dang it!

What do ya'll think? I need more ammuntion, I mean objective opinions.

BTW - I've been askin all the patients who walk through my door and I'll give you the update at the end of the week!

MckLinky Monday - Short Road trips

Mrs. Montgomery over at the RHOK is hosting MckLinky Monday and with Spring Break rapidly approaching, she asks: What's your favorite one tank road trip?

Hmmmm.......

Well, my favorite get outta dodge trip would probably be the family lake house on Fort Gibson Lake. Speaking of the lake house, I've gotta super fun story about this past weekend that I'll share with ya'll later!

(MY Hunter with my dad at the lake last summer)

My parents bought this lake house about 5 years ago and it's become the family getaway! It's secluded, has it's own boat dock at the very back of a cove, lots of super tall trees, and all kinds of owls, deer, hedgehogs, and other creatures that inhabit the place when we're not there. I love it! It has this huge wraparound porch, stained glass windows of hummingbirds and ivy, a fireplace, and lots of room to run.

My parents want to sell it.

Yep, sell it. The getaway, it's gonna be gone. Gone with the wind. No more.

I'm bummed.

Wow, that kinda took a turn for the depressing didn't it!

Ok, well later I'll post pictures and the story about this weekend's lake house fun. (I'm still giggling over it all!)

Valentine's Day Disappointment

Poor hubby.

He tried hard.

Flowers were ordered (in advance, nonetheless).

Flowers never arrived.

Hubby was not pleased.

TWO dozen pink, white and red tulips lost somewhere between Owasso and Collinsville (if ya'll are from around here you know how short of a distance that is).

No flowers for the wife.

Honestly, I don't mind that I didn't get flowers (I'd rather have fabric anyway!). I just love it that he ordered the flowers IN ADVANCE!!!!!!!! He tried, and that's all that matters.
So, MY Hunter spent the night at his grandparents house, and THE hunter and I went to a friend's house for Gumbo and Chocolate Fudge Cupcakes!!!!!!
Not a bad Valentine's Day at all!

New Work Attire

Drastic times call for drastic measures: camo boots with scrub pants. love it.

Stupid snow......I've had to pull out the huntin boots so that I could make it walkin in to work without the snow filling up my tennis shoes! This may be the only time I would wear this camo stuff in public, well except for that one year for Halloween....but I couldn't think of anything else to wear!

The bad thing is: we're getting more snow starting this evening and all day tomorrow. 5-12 inches. More snow. We're all thrilled. NOT!

MckLinky Monday - Pet Peeves

The super-fabulous Mrs. Coco is hosting MckLinky today over at the RHOK!!!!! She's venting about her Top 5 Pet Peeves (like we can all narrow it down to 5!)

Here's my take on the peevishness:

1) Hateful, negative people. Remember the blog post about the "don't be hateful to medical staff"? yeah, I'm just going to reiterate on that one.... Things are much nicer when you're not being a mean, pain in the you-know-what!

2) This one I'm stealing, um I mean borrowing from Mrs. Coco herself: Facebook status messages. I'm so glad that you feel the need to share absolutely everything that's going on with your life on facebook, but really, you're not a celebrity and you must just not be busy enough in your life. If you can update your status at least once an hour, you need to get a life away from the Internet. Hey, go exercise!

3) Leaving the lights on. Yeah, I know, but it drives me CRAZY! It's wasteful.... It goes way back to childhood with me. I used to walk by a room that was empty but the light was left on, and turn it off......much to my parents annoyance. Hey, you leave the room, turn the tv/ lights/ radio/ whatever OFF!!!!! You can't even imagine how much it drives me bazerk leaving the clinic at the end of the day and seeing all the other offices with their lights left on. Let's just say, I could probably benefit from at least a little therapy!

4) Inconsiderate winter Okie drivers. Oklahomans freak when there is the slightest precipitation. They forget how to drive. So, because of the snow, by husband took me to work on Friday. Sweet man. At least 4 times we were almost ran off the road or hit head on because some jack couldn't pull their head out enough to drive properly with snow on the roads. People, if you hit me because you're driving horribly (ie: speeding or whatever) and my precious little red-headed man is strapped in his car seat in the back...heaven help you, because I'm gonna rage on you and you'll probably need someone to pull me off you. You've been warned.

5)Laundry started but never finished. (ie: left in the wash machine and you don't know it because no one tells you they started a load of towels 5 days ago and now you're wondering "what the heck is that smell?" only to find a HUGE load of soggy towels smooshed to the bottom of the wash machine). Yeah, THE hunter and I go round and round on this one. eeerrrrrrrrrrr!!!!

Ok, well, now you know how I feel! lol, so go check out Mrs. Coco and the other ladies over at the RHOK for more fun!!!!

SNOW-klahoma!

Snowmaggedon. Snowpocalypse. Blizzard of 2011.

All terms not normally associated with Oklahoma. Not anymore, ya'll. We got snow. A LOT of snow. Record setting snow. Like 21 inches of snow.
Maybe the weathermen were right on this one.
I've literally been snowed in since Monday night. I was going stir crazy! Thank goodness I could get out and shovel the driveway so I could get out of the house and get some exercise.......until the shovel broke.....as did my spirits!

Yesterday, the three of us got out and about in out little town to hunt down some milk. What a funny girl I am. All three grocery stores looked like a war had come through. There was no milk, bread, water, cheese. And I do mean N-O milk. Doesn't Walmart know I can't but MY Hunter down for sleep without milk!!!!!!!

So, my friend Dawn posted the cutest Snow Stuff on her blog. Check this out!

SNOW-K-LA-HOMA

(hum the song from the musical Oklahoma as you read)

SNOW.......klahoma

Where the cold front's sweepin down the plain

And the piles of sleet, beneath your feet

Follow right behind the freezin rain!

SNOW.......klahoma

Ev'ry night my honey lamb and I

Travel home from work and hope some jerk

Doesn't wreck our car in passing by!

We know we belong to the land

But it could use some more salt and more sand

That's why we say......WHOA!!!!

We're slinding the other way.....YIKES!!!!

We're only sayin

You're slick as snot SNOWklahoma

SNOWklahoma

SNOW-K-L-A-H-O-M-A

SNOWklahoma, SNOW-K!!!!!

too cute huh?! MY Hunter didn't think the snow was cute. He cried. A lot. Maybe it was because of the 20 layers his dad thought that he needed. Nobody listens to the momma. Til they start cryin.

Oh, and it's currently snowin some more right now. We're supposed to get another 1-4 inches today. I'm so over the snow.
