Scholarship Opportunity

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of PBM Products for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

Recently I posted the fantastic revelation that Walmart's Parent's Choice infant formula was EXACTLY the SAME as Enfamil and Similac?  Guess what else I just found from Parent's Choice?!

Parent's Choice will help one student and their family write an important chapter in their young lives with the launch of the Parent's Choice Infant Formula Savings Sweepstakes.  The sweepstakes, created in partnership with PBM Products, LLC. (also the creator of Parent's Choice puffs and solids), will provide one lucky winner with a $10,000 college scholarship in the form of a College Savings 529 Plan!

The Parent's Choice Infant Formula Sweepstakes started on June 15th and will run through August 1, 2011.

If you want more information, the rules and an entry form are all available at Parent’s Choice Infant Formula Savings Sweepstakes.

Parent's Choice Infant Formula is Walmart's private brand formula and you can find it exclusively at Walmart locations nationwide and online at www.walmart.com.

Now, if only MY Hunter was old enough to go to college. Wait, I don't want him to get older. Scratch that! We'll leave this awesome opportunity for older kids!

Moving Update and A Winner

Happy Monday Everyone! I hope everyone had a fun and (hopefully) cool weekend.
Mine was full of moving stuff to............OOLOGAH!!!!!!! Yep, Oologah, Oklahoma. I'm now calling it home.
As did this gentleman:
Will Rogers.
This is a picture of his home, which is actually only a few miles from my in-laws home.
For those who guessed Claremore, you are wrong! His hometown is Oologah, but he told everyone his hometown was Claremore, because no one outside Oklahoma would be able to pronounce Oologah! BTW: you fellow Okies should have known this! lol
So........the winner of the "guess where I'm moving to" is:
MILAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This huntin' family is a' movin'.
To this man's hometown.
If you guess who this is and where his hometown is, I'll do a drawing to send something fun to ya!

My Neck O' The Woods - Granbury, TX

Hi Friends! it's Tuesday, so I'm linkin up with those RHOK ladies!
THE hunter and I just got back from a super quick jaunt down to Texas and back. We literally left at 4am Friday morning and got home at 9pm Saturday night! Lots of riding in the car for me.
The drive really wasn't too bad, but of course THE hunter wanted to stop at the haven of all hunters: Cabelas!!!!
Hit Cabelas in Fort Worth and then another hour or so down to Granbury!!!! Yay!
Got to the wedding of one of my most favorite Texas chicks in the whole wide world, Madelline and her now hubby, Robert, where I was roped into being the photographer which was cool and all, but it was 110 degrees down there! It's Texas in July people! H-O-T!!!!!! I had sweat running down places that sweat has no place to run....unless you're running, but honestly I didn't see too many people outside running in Texas. Hmm.
Ok, anyway, I didn't get to take any pics of my own from the wedding except for this one of me and THE hunter at the reception.
Saturday morning I drug THE hunter to Granbury's awesomely fabulous Square!!!! I love the square. I could move my whole family to Texas so that I can be close to the Square. I could live at the square. I have been dreaming of going back to the Square ever since I left it the Summer of 2006.
They just have the cutest shops for anything and everything you could possibly want or need! Cookin stuff, antiques, clothes, salsa, ice cream, wine, quilting stuff, sports stuff. Just everything!
Here's the courthouse in the middle of the Square. It's under construction at the moment.
Here's a couple of the beautiful homes just off the square.
I asked THE hunter if I could have one. He said no. He's so unreasonable.

Epitome of Summer

This little red-headed man with the crabby britches and the slip-n-slide is what summer is all about!
Hope everyone is having a wonderful and fun summer!!!

My Neck O' The Woods - Quilting

Happy Tuesday Everyone! It's that day of the week where we link up with those cool chicks at the Real Housewives of Oklahoma for In Your Neck of the Woods!
My bestie, Calianna, and I have been plotting for months about making identical quilts out of Moda's new line, Strawberry Fields. I just love it! It's just so 50's colored and strawberry-ish! Makes me oh so happy!!!!
Anywho, we finally got all our fabric in for our quilts and we planned a Girls Only Saturday for us to get together and start cutting out all the pieces. Luckily, my mom was nice enough to let us converge on her house (which was boy-free, except for my dad, the cat, and the dogs) to eat, cut, and sew.
Of course, we couldn't make a strawberry quilt without eating some strawberries, so my mom cut us up some with a dab of Cool Whip to munch between cutting!
Here's Calianna (who is appropriately colored for the occasion by the way) cutting her little heart out!
We started cutting out fabric for two queen size quilts at 11:00 AM. By 6:30 PM we still weren't done cutting, but Calianna had to go home to her boys. I kept cutting until 10:00 PM and I STILL wasn't finished cutting, but I was so exhausted from standing at that counter all day that I just quit and went to bed. The next morning I got up and spent another good hour cutting to finally finish up all the cutting! It's c-r-a-z-y how many pieces are needed for these stinkin quilts!!! But they're gonna be sooooooo pretty when they're done and we'll have matching quilts!
I did get to piece together two blocks (so that we could bask in the wonderful strawberry fields prettiness) and here they are!
Just a little sample of what's to come!
Hope everyone has a wonderful day!!!

No Lakin' For Me

There were thoughts about heading to the good ol' lake house this weekend and going out in the boat.....until my mom just called to let me know that Ft. Gibson Lake now has that nasty blue green algae stuff that has Grand Lake swimmer-free.
Swim in the nasty (poo and algae) infested lake or hole up and quilt with my bestie, Calianna....
um, yeah
no swimmy swimmy for me! I really don't want to take my chances on dying from the algae.
Everyone have a fun and algae-free weekend!

My Neck O' The Woods - Yumm

I've been doing a lot of baking lately, what with the holidays and all.
So, I wanted to share these last two dishes that I've fixed up!
1) No Bake Strawberry Frozen Yogurt Cake
This was sooooo yummy and light and refreshing on a super hot summer day. I found this recipe the other day on Deep South Dish and it's super simple to make. 1 prepared graham cracker crust (which I had a coupon for), I 12 oz tub of Cool Whip (I used the fat free kind...surprised aren'tcha?), 16oz strawberry fruit on the bottom yogurt (I used Greek yogurt), a couple drops of red food coloring, and some sliced up strawberries on top! See? Easy easy and ridiculously light and healthy!
2) Blueberry Chocolate Chunk Cupcakes I found these over at Paula Deen and they're.....a little weirder for me and my taste buds. They are chocolate chip with fresh blueberries.....and apple butter.....and maple syrup. Uh huh. They're different. I made these up last night and asked THE hunter what he thought. I didn't get a lot of response on these. When I tried them I thought that they're not super "WOW!" but not super "YUCK!" either. They're just different. We'll see what the girls at work think of them today. Guinea pigs! lol
Hope y'all had a wonferful and safe 4th of July!!!!

Complaining Over Paperwork

Alright y'all. I just had to share this little rant with ya.
What is it about walking into a physical therapy clinic that makes you think that you don't have to fill out paperwork or bring your insurance cards?
Instance 1) I give patient her paperwork. She responds by saying, "Well, hasn't the doctor sent all my information over already? I shouldn't have to fill anything out."
Sigh.
Instance 2) Patient's grandfather gets up in my face about filling about his granddaughter's paperwork. "You should already have all her information. Why should I have to fill this out?"
Sigh.
Here's the deal though.....I ALREADY HAVE 85% OF THE PAPERWORK ALREADY FILLED OUT!!!!!!!!!!!
Tell me of ONE medical office where the paperwork has already been mostly filled out for you in advance? Um, I was doing it as a courtesy. I can sure enough stop this gravy train if all I'm gonna get is harassment over stinkin paperwork.
Can you even imagine walking into your primary care physician's clinic for the first time and not filling out paperwork? Uh no, because there is usually about 6 pages to fill out.
My clinic has 2. Again, it's already 85% filled out.
Give me a break people.
Is it just that people just need something to complain about or they're not happy?

Fabric Addiction 101

I am SOOOOOOOO excited!!!!

My ship(ment) of fabric has come in!!!!!!

My fabulous BFF Calianna and I are making twin quilts out of Moda's Strawberry Fields. Oh, Strawberry Fields, how I love thee. Let me count the ways!!!! I can't even describe to you the squealing that Cali and I do when we look at this fabric. Our husbands don't even raise their eyebrows anymore when we reach squealing mode. They've just learned.

Last year, I fell in love with Alexander Henry's The Ghastlies. So I bought this:

This year, I did the happy dnace when I found out that they were re-releasing said Ghastlies (due to the completely warranted super-quick sell out). So I just found this in my mailbox:

I'm still trying to find just the perfect quilt pattern to show these creepy cool Ghastlies off!

I'm open to suggestions!!!!!!

Then, a couple weeks ago, THE hunter and I were at a local quilt shop where we saw this hanging up for display:

I know it's hard to believe, but THE hunter was the one that insisted that I make it for our house for Christmas! I'm sure it has absolutely nothing to do with having deer on it, but still, it's super cute and I jumped all over getting the fabric and panel to make this! It's part of Nancy Halverson's new Christmas line, Jingle All The Way. Love that Nancy Halverson!

I just love fabric. I think I'm beyond Fabric Addicted. They so need to have a tv show on fabric addiction. "Hi. My name is Amy and I'm addicted to fabric." I'd watch it!

My Neck O' The Woods - Hell Week and Pancakes

I don't know if it was because of a full moon or if because today is the Summer Solstice, but what is up with people lately?! People have been soooooo hateful and rude!

Last week I literally had people making me cry every. single. day. of. the. week!!!!!

I am sooooooo over rude, hateful, crabby people.

Let me break it down for ya:

1) I'm sorry that you're having a bad day/ month/ year/ life, but don't take it out on me!

2) Rude people are not cool. One of my biggest pet peeves on the planet is rudeness.Grrrrr!

3) You picked your medical insurance, not me, so don't scream at me that you have to pay a copay every time you walk through my doors. Again, you picked it. Not me.

4) It is RUDE to hang up on people without saying good-bye. R-U-D-E!!!!! Take the extra 3 seconds it takes to say 'bye, m'kay?!

Ok, now that I've got that out of my system, Sunday was Father's Day so, after I dragged my carcass out of bed at about 8:00 (which is amazing, really) I gathered all the ingredients to make the men Cinnamon Roll Pancakes!!!!!

Oh. My. Gosh.

Dawn (the fabulous) posted last week this yum-yum recipe for Cinnamon Roll Pancakes and I immediately knew this is what I wanted to make for Father's Day breakfast. I need to insert this bit of info for y'all: I am NOT a breakfast person....unless someone else is making the breakfast and bringing it to me in bed. I don't do breakfast. So, because I am not a breakfast person, I don't make breakfast for the men in my house. Call me a bad wife or momma, but it ain't my thang. So, to make up for this no-breakfast-cooking 364 days a year, I made them these AWESOME pancakes!

You also need to know that I healthy-fied them up a bit! Shocking, I know.

I doubled the recipe:

1) instead of 1 cup of butter for the cinnamon filling, I only used 1/2 (because I'm the one that has to work that butter off ya know).

2)I tried to swirl the cinnamon filling around the pancake, but that was a horrible disaster. So, I just dumped the whole bag of cinnamon junk into the pancaked batter and mixed it up.

3)Speakin of batter, you could totally get away with using a box of pancake mix and adding the cinnamon and cream cheese stuff to it. Just sayin.

4)A little of the cream cheese topping goes a long way......to your hips and thighs.....plus it's super sweet, so add a dab and spread it with a spoon of the pancake while it's still warm!

I hope everyone had a great Father's Day....

and pray for me so that I'll have a much nicer and rude-people-free week! (because I don't think I can take much more...or I'm running away to the home for run-away mothers)

Walgreens Lovin

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Walgreens for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

Y'all know I'm a big fan of Walgreens right? Well, something that I really love about Walgreens is their Walgreens Brand Health & Wellness Products stuff (ie. their brand of Name Brand items).

I don't know about the rest of y'all but with all the grass cutting and my neighbor's tree that is shedding white fluffy stuff into my yard, my allergies are going bonkers!

I finally couldn't take suffering it out anymore, so while I was flipping though the Sunday paper, I saw Walgreens has their Wal-Fex Allergy (the equivalent of Allegra) was on sale! Not just on sale but you also get the sale price returned to you in Register Rewards making it FREE!!!! Comprende, free?!

I'm all about a good deal and if it's gonna make me feel better at the same time, I'm all for it!

I went up to my Walgreens and brought home a box, and I kid you not, by the time I had sorted the laundry and got a load going, I felt soooo much better! It's even a 24-hour allergy relief so I didn't have to take more than one! I'm not about multiple doses of medication!

I love that I saved money on this product, I felt better quickly, it's the same ingredients as the expensive stuff, and a good friend of mine who is a Walgreens Pharmacist recommended it. I have her on speed dial for anytime I have a medication related question. I highly suggest having a pharmacist for a friend!

Also, did you know that for every Walgreens Brand Health & Wellness product that is sold, it supports Walgreens bringing preventative wellness services to local communities with their Walgreens Way to Well Fund™. They contribute up to $3 million annually and provide free preventative health tests to the community.

Wanna know something else?! Several bloggers are having giveaways for some Walgreens Gift Cards! them out for your chance to win!!!!

My Neck O' The Woods - Tick Me Off!!!!!

Happy Tuesday Everyone!

I'm linkin up with them RHOK'n Girls for their In Your Neck of the Woods Tuesday!

There have been a lot of wet britches at our casa. We've been doing lots and lots of this

and this

and this

Aren't the crabbie britches cute?! My mom got them for him.

Last Saturday we all went to the the Lake House at Ft. Gibson (no, my parents haven't sold it yet!) and spent the whole day out on the boat fishing.

I'm happy to announce that (thanks to the Momma) the short man had no traces of a sunburn!

The tall man, on the other hand, not so much. I honestly think I would have heard less whining from MY Hunter about a burn than I've heard from THE hunter. Big baby!

Sunday night I made supper for the men, and decided to try something new. I've been wanting to try the Pioneer Woman's Chicken Parmigiana........oh, good Lord was it yummy! My mouth is watering just thinking about it!

So, here's the Mamie Amy take on the Pioneer Woman's Chicken Parm:

  • I didn't flatten mine out nearly as flat as hers. Flat chicken is flat creepy....so there.

  • I used half of a red onion instead of a whole.

  • I used a few more cloves of garlic, because garlic is yum in my tum.

  • She says to use wine after you cook the garlic and onions, and I did. The chardonnay I won from the RHOK Out! I'm tellin you, that wine made a WORLD of difference! It added just a bit of sweetness without being too sweet.....which is why I didn't add the sugar that she says to put in.

  • She also calls for dumping in 3 14.5oz cans of crushed tomatoes. Yeah well, I couldn't find that size so I got 2 of the big cans.....yeah you only need one big one!

  • She calls for 1 pound of linguine......I cooked a whole 13.5ox box......OVERKILL! We definitely could have just done a half a box.

  • Last but not least, she says to put the chickey in and let it cook long enough in the sauce for the Parmesan to melt.....you try making 2 hungry men wait for some cheese to melt. Didn't happ'n cap'n!

As you can see, MY Hunter loved it!

Something completely and totally creepy happened to me Sunday, and since we're tight and all, I'm gonna share it with you.

THE hunter and I were laying in bed Sunday afternoon watching TV while the little man was taking a nap. All of a sudden a spot on my *ahem* delicate area started to hurt like I had been pinched. I went into the bathroom to check it out, and low and behold there is a tick on my girl parts! Talk about freaking out, thy name is Amy! I had to get THE hunter to get it off! Like it's not bad enough to have the man witness me pushing a baby out of my nether regions, but let's have him pull a tick off them too! I can't even imagine what he was thinking when I thrust a bottle of Dawn dish soap and tweezers at him and told him to get this tick off me!!!!!

I'm pretty sure The Tick Removal of 2011 has killed any passionate thoughts THE hunter has towards me for the time being. Not that I can blame him. I'm pretty creeped out too! I hate ticks! (pun alert) They TICK me off!!!!!! lol, sorry couldn't help myself!

Now I'm just worried that I might have Key Lime Disease on my girl parts! Or maybe it's Key Lime Pie.......that sounds better doesn't it?!

Summer Blahs

I'm posting to say that I'm not posting.

It's summer and I just flat don't feel like blogging lately.

It's more fun to play with MY Hunter than blog.....

So I'm posting this video of my short guy.

Just because he's cute.

(feel free to turn the volume down on your computer)
(please?!)

Don't judge me on how I sound on video.

I still don't know why he got all upset at the end. Toddlers.

Have a great weekend!!!!

My Neck O' The Woods - Birthday

It's Tuesday again, which means I'm linking back up with the Real Housewives of Oklahoma for Your Neck Of the Woods.

Honestly, I don't even know where to begin on this one.
It's just been nuts lately.

Here we go:

Cooking Club: Theme - Pioneer Woman! Result - too much calorie consumption but oh so yummy! I made her Sweet Cinnamon Scones....which just about drove me to drink.....or calling the ladies to tell them I wouldn't be coming because the scones hated me and I equally hated them back.

They weren't scones, they were.......I can't even think of the appropriate word. They just weren't. So in honor of the fact that they ended up more like thick Snickerdoodle cookies instead of scones, I give you this clip.

Henceforth, my rolling pin shall now and forever be called my Cakensmoosher!

Let's see, um then we had the ER visit of 2011 with MY Hunter.

The hunter had just finished towelling off the man from his bath and told little man to "run to momma in the living room so she can put your diaper on!" Well he ran....right into the coffee table. He almost knocked himself out! There was blood and tears everywhere! The hunter and I were concerned that he might have a concussion since he hit the table to hard, so we made the trip to the ER.....were we didn't leave for a good 3 hours.
See this poor deformed looking man, he did it. Please do not call DHS on me! Henceforth, the coffee table now lives in the garage, where it will stay until MY Hunter is old enough to drive.

Next day = my birthday. No more birthdays. I'm done.

Moving on.

I've been trying to get some quilting done.

So, I got the binding on the adorable pink baby quilt making this one done just in time for the baby shower next week!
Then I tried working on the applique part of the quilt I'm making for MY Hunter's nurse.

All was going well, until my machine broke on the second one.

I need a good cry......and a big margarita.....and a vacation.....with a big margarita.

Today = my anniversary with The hunter.

Again, I need a margarita and a vacation!

P.S. I just want to say for the record that I hate Blogger. I can't leave comments on a lot of people's blog. I'm not being ugly by not leaving comments...I just can't because of stupid Blogger!

A Birthday of A Different Color

.....not a horse, but a birthday. (because this is not the Wizard of Oz...although sometimes I have to wonder)

Things have been super-duper crazy around the hunting household lately and last night was no exception.

I love late night trips to the ER with little men (or women, if you have girl children.....which I don't) don't you?

Today is my birthday and in honor of the passing of another year (which is just getting me closer to grey hair, wrinkles, and driving large Lincoln TownCars)...I'm not blogging until next week.

Actually, it's because I've been super-duper busy.

Next week I'll fill you on the business and the ER trips and the cheesecake and the other stuff!

Love you bunches!

A Twister A Twister!

In the aftermath of all the deadly tornado outbreaks in Oklahoma last night, I've said many prayers for the families and friends of all the victims of these violent tornadoes ripping through our area of the country.

First with Mississippi.
Then with Missouri.
Then last night with the ones here in Oklahoma that travelled up to Kansas, Missouri and Arkansas.

My heart broke when I heard the news story this morning of the mother down around the Oklahoma City area who's home was hit by a tornado. She has three kids: the 5-month-old son died, the 5-year-old sister is in the hospital in critical condition, and the 3-year-old son is missing....and she's pregnant.

As a mother, my heart goes out to her in this incredibly horrible time. I can't even begin to imagine having to live through that.

As Oklahomans, we are used to the Spring dangers of living in Tornado Alley, but we never become use to the death and destruction that accompanies them.

For everyone who has lost their home, family, pets, vehicles, business, and personal possessions, our thoughts and prayers are with you!
