Hallmark's Fault

Momma's tired this morning. I didn't get much sleep last night.

After THE hunter and I got our little Hunter Grunter to bed last night, we stayed up to watch a Hallmark movie on CBS. You know, it's rare when the hubbs and I can agree on what to watch on TV......I want Turner Classic Movies.....he wants the Outdoor Channel (of course). We saw a preview for a new Hallmark movie that was coming on that night called The Lost Valentine with Betty White and Jennifer Love Hewitt. Looked super cute. We'll watch it.

The Lost Valentine is a story of love, loss and hope. Betty White's character says good bye to her navy pilot husband at the train station on their first anniversary, February 14, 1944, pregnant, and distraught by her husband's departure. After the baby is born, she receives the telegram that he is MIA. She keeps the hope alive that he will return home to her so she returns to the same train station every year on their anniversary, Valentine's Day, to wait for him.

Fast forward to present - Betty White's grandson contact's reporter Jennifer Love Hewitt's character's boss about doing a human interest story on the love of his grandparents. Hewitt's character tracks down what really happened to the MIA pilot and brings closure to White, and falls in love with grandson at the same time.

The tearjerker here is the end where on Valentine's Day, they bring the coffined body of her fallen husband through the train station where she waited for him to return home for over 60 years. She cries over the flag-draped coffin and finally has the closure to this tragic love story. Love continues with the new love of Hewitt and the grandson, and life is wonderful.

I hate Hallmark. I cried for 2 hours after watching this stinkin show! It really got me thinking a lot about life, love, marriage, and choices you make throughout life. Mainly I thought about loss and how the heart never truly heals completely after a loss. How can the heart still bleed as bitterly about a loss decades later as easily as it does on day 1?

I know I'm just a silly, sentimental schmuck, but it's Hallmark's fault really! If their movies weren't so darn good I would have gotten better sleep!!!!

Zumba Party!

Have you taken a Zumba class yet? Um, hello. GO!

I am lovin me some Zumba. My workout Nazi (Krystal, I love ya girl) and her twin (Twin Kim) make me go with them Wednesday nights in Verdigris. Sooooooo much fun!

Remember the recent post about all my weight loss? Well Zumba was a HUGE part of that weight loss!

I'm gonna say it again: I.hate.working.out! It hurts and I stink afterward....but I love the feeling afterward!

Zumba is the funnest way of working out without feeling like you're working out! Dance away those pounds sistas!

Tomorrow is the Hip Hop/ Reggaeton Zumbathon in Bartlesville at the Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church from 6-7:30pm and I'm so excited! It's going to be nothing but hip hop-py music and dance moves! Love it!!!!!!

The instructors, Ann and Lacy, are just a hoot and they have more energy than should be legally allowed.....but they are super cute, so we go along with it!
So, go to the Zumba Party tomorrow if you can! You'll love it!!!!!

Knock It Off!

Ok, I need to rant for just a minute here.

People, when you walk into a medical facility, DO NOT treat the staff like crap! We don't deserve it and, honestly, it makes us not like you very much.

Remember the adage: you catch more flies with honey than vinegar??????????

Same applies with medical personnel. We'll go a lot further out of our way to help you when you are NICE!!!!!!!

I'm super sorry if you're having a bad day/ decade/ life, but that does not give you just cause to speak ugly to me, nor give me dirty looks because I'm not doing exactly what it is that you think that I should be doing for you (while you're ripping me a new one).

In conclusion, KNOCK IT OFF and just be nice people!!!!!

Thank you for letting me gripe. I feel much better!

Pure Wedding Quilt

She who waits too long to order fabric from the shop while it's on sale, bangs head on desk later!

I had been postponing buying the additional fabric that I needed for Jamie's friendship braid wedding quilt due to, well, life. Today I go to the online store to buy my fabric only to find............IT'S SOLD OUT!!!!!! Why me?

Plan B: different fabric for the outer border and backing. I wanted the Bubbles in Splash for the border and the backing. sigh. Now I'm just doing the border in the Bubbles in Splash and the backing will now be Sweet in Splash. I was really wanting to have as much blue as possible for this wedding quilt and I think there will be enough.
I would really like to post a picture of how this quilt is coming together, but really, I don't want her to read this blog and ruin the surprise of it all! She knows she's getting one and what the colors are (because I can't contain quilty secrets like that), but she doesn't know what it really looks like. I love quilty surprises!!!!

Cause to Celebrate!

Do ya'll know what today means? A year ago today, I started this amazing journey called "healthiness." I was still several pounds overweight from having MY Hunter, I had horrible stretch marks on what was a very flat tummy, and honestly, I was depressed about it all.

What changed it all?

I started working at the physical therapy clinic where I currently still work and was surrounded by a bunch of health conscious, work out fanatics! They had a Zumba instructor coming to the clinic twice a week to work out and the other three days a week they worked out to DVD's of Insanity, P90X and the Biggest Loser. They exercised daily, ate great, and were just so darn happy about it! How can you not be swept up by that?!

Now, a year later, I've lost over 30 pounds and 4 dress sizes! Gotta love that baby weight, huh?! I still have lots more room for improvement, and I'm working harder now than I ever did in the past year. I can't wait to see the difference this year will bring, not just for my body size but just for my overall health, too!!!

I'm not going to say working out is easy or really that it was fun everytime I worked out, but I knew in my heart that I needed it. Even now, I still hate the actual act of working out (because it hurts and it sucks), but I LOVE the feeling afterward! The point is: just get up and do SOMETHING! ANYTHING is better than NOTHING!

I just keep saying to myself, "swim suit season is rapidly approaching" and "just keep moving!" Now I'm one of those fruitcakes that gets disappointed if I don't feel sore the following day!

The Crud

I'm finally back on my feet this morning! I have literally been laying in bed since Thursday evening. I had "the crud." You know, the crud: snotty nose, cough, thoughts of "is it really possible that my head can blow up like a balloon and pop from all this pressure?" I HATE the crud. There is no comfort when you have the crud. Even the softest pillows make your head hurt. You're not hungry. You can't smell nor taste. You are one cranky chick.

My husband (kinda) tried hard to make me feel better this weekend. Guys just don't comfort like us ladies do. We make them soup, bring water, force medication down their throats, fluff pillows, change tv channels (because they're "too weak" to hold the clicker), and generally become mommy. When we're sick: well.........yeah not much of the above happens. lol

To make the weekend worse, MY Hunter got ahold of the crud yesterday and he is one cranky, unhappy 16 month-old. I hate when my baby is sick. It makes me feel helpless. THE hunter is taking him in to the doctor this afternoon, so hopefully we can't get him back to his happy little self!

I hate winter in Oklahoma. It is not conducive to keeping people well. It's in the 40s for like 3 or 4 days and then it drops to the low 20s. Hmmmm...wonder why people can't stay healthy?

When does spring get here??!!

(Just as an FYI - THE hunter just called from the doctor's office...MY Hunter has another ear infection and an upper respiratory infection. Bummer. Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers for my little man!)

Snow!!!!

Guess what I woke up to this morning?! Our first real snow of the year!!!! I would love to say that I got to stay home and play, but no, work work work :(
I tried to take a picture of the snow with my camera phone but there wasn't enough light out to show how pretty it was.....Hopefully it won't get icy on the roads until after I get home!
Yay for snow!!!!

MckLinky Monday ~ 5 Things You Can't Do Anymore

My lovely friend, Dawn (AKA: Mrs. Albright) has posted on the Real Housewives of Oklahoma (RHOK) blog this morning for the MckLinky. She's asking what are 5 things you can't do anymore? This is quite the intriguing question. Not really something I think a lot about. Hmmmm.......let's give it a go!

1) Cartwheels - ok, well I can, but it sure isn't pretty and it sure pulls the hamstrings more than it used to! :)

2) Stretchmarks - I used to proudly show off my midsection. Look how flat and and unblemished!!! Yeah, thanks to MY Hunter, not anymore! Which also means I can't prance around in a teeny bikini in front of people at the lake. Not that I did much prancing, but you know!

Ok, mine don't look this bad....but it sure feels like it somedays!

3) Eat whatever I want to - this one sucks the most! I have an "absurd" weakness for all things not healthy! What's wrong with eating french fries and a strawberry shake? Apparently everything. It's a good thing I work at a physical therapy clinic is all I have to say on that one!

4) Stay up late.....and by late I mean 9 o'clock or later! Ok, for those who know me, know that I have never be a night owl.ever. Combine an early to bed kinda girl with mommyhood = crawling into my flannel sheets at 8:30...if I'm lucky :)

5) Stash any more fabric/ rulers/ patterns/ etc. into my bedroom armoire anymore. My armoire door is like the magical door in Narnia for me. Currently Narnia is full. Beyond full. Solution = take over THE hunter's side of the closet! He doesn't need to hang any clothes in there/ store his hunting bow/ shelve shoes right?

Have a great Monday!!!!!!

Still Hangin Around

I haven't fallen off the face of the planet. I've just been so busy.....and honestly I just haven't been real motivated to blog much lately. I don't really know what my deal is. Maybe it's like workin out...once you've stopped for a little while, it's super hard to get back into the swing of things. I'm hoping this blog post will re motivate me to start posting again.

Christmas was beyond crazy. When you have a cute guy (yes, I'm biased) everyone wants a piece of him. It was a wonderful Christmas, but we didn't put a Christmas tree up this year because 1) we didn't have one, 2) we couldn't afford one, and 3) I didn't need MY Hunter to pull it down! So.......yesterday my Mom called me and told me that she found one at Hobby Lobby that was originally $500 on sale for $50!!!!!! AND she bought 3 boxes of lights for under $10 at Garden Ridge!!!!!!!!! Thank God for moms!

I'm still working on my Secret Santa quilt. No too much progress there. BUT one of the girls that I work with is getting married early March....which means she needs a wedding quilt! I'm using Moda's Pure to make a french braid quilt. I've never made a french braid quilt before, but Pure's pretty blues and browns are just gorgeous!!!!! I can't wait to finish it and give it to her and her soon-to-be!!!! I think it's completely appropriate choice of colors.....you know....something blue!

Also, I saw a picture from the Houston Quilt Show of this:

Isn't it beautiful! I had to have one! So after some searching I found out the The Quilt Show was offering up this BOM from Sue Garmin! This looks waaaaaaay beyond my quilt knowledge level, but there's no harm in gathering up the fabric and patterns for the future, right?!
