Thank You

I just wanted to send a quick shout of "Thank You"s to all of ya'll who commented on my babysitting dilemma. You will never know how much it touched me and got me through a very hard time. I love you bunches!!

Matt and I are interviewing a babysitter tonight and one on Friday night, so I'll keep you posted as to what comes of it all.

I'm still praying that God makes it very loud and clear what he wants for me and my life, and who will be the lucky one to watch Hunter...me or a babysitter.

Speaking of babysitters......can you believe that some daycare facilities are charging over $700 a month to watch my 1 year-old?! For real?! What the stink are you doing with my child all day to warrant me spending that much on childcare?! Unless the man will learn to read, write, and start college in a year's worth of time, then it ain't happenin'! Besides...who can afford that? And who can afford that if they have more than one kid?! Um, I know I can't/ couldn't! You can kiss my grits, because nuh-uh!

On a much sew-ier note: my Christmas log cabin is almost done! I have a little bit more quilting to do and then on with the binding, and voila! Done! I can't wait to do the unveiling and show ya'll how pretty it is! I really wasn't crazy with it when I first started, but now I'm just loving the stink out of it!

Overwhelmed

Girls...I'm feeling so overwhelmed. I just feel like there is so much on my plate right now and I just don't have the solution to make everything right.

When I picked Hunter up from the babysitter Tuesday, she told me that she's going back to work at the end of next month, so I would need to find another sitter. Stink.

I've been super frustrated with my job, because I'm just so bored. I feel like I have 3 degrees under my belt and I don't use my brain or creativity in any way, shape or form. I love the girls I work with, but I'm. just. bored.

I've been wanting to stay home with Hunter since he was born, but financially we just can't afford it. I've been calling around to get prices on other sitters, and we're looking at TWICE the amount we pay now. Almost the entirety of one of my two paychecks a month would go to childcare! That's crazy!

I've been praying super hard for God to give me the right answer and what He wants me to do, but I just can't help stressing out over it. I know I sound so whiny, and I do feel fortunate to even have a job right now when so many others don't, but I can't help getting upset!

Anyone out there have any good suggestions?

Finished Quilts

So I finally got the pictures of my past two finished quilts on CD! Yay!

The first one is the baby blanket that was supposed to be for my little man, Hunter, but then his father said we're done with the safari look....now we're on to tractors, camo, and animal heads on the wall. Yes, I said animal heads on the wall. Thank you Cabelas..I appreciate you selling them for husband to buy. Anyways, I sent it last week to my best Texas friend, Madelline, who is having a little man of her own in the very near future!

The second one is the one I kinda recently blogged about that was commissioned by my good work friend, Krystal, for her friend who just had her little girl a few weeks ago. I thought "Butterflies for Makenzy" was appropriately titled! It was just so delicate and sparkly! I hope both baby and momma love it as much as I did!

Both of them are nowhere close to being as perfect as I would have liked them to be...but not to shabby for someone who didn't know how to sew/ use a sewing machine let alone quilt before making these! I'm truly just too anal retentive to be a quilter....but maybe we're all like that to some degree....What do you think?!

...And yes, I know, I need to get a better camera!

Sew Much to Share

OMG! My weekend shouldn't even be considered a break from work, because all I did was w-o-r-k! And why didn't any of you in blog land with kids tell me how much work it would be to host a child's birthday party?.....You're all fired!

Hunter got his first haircut Saturday :( Now he looks like a...like a.....MAN!!!! I hate it! I want those little red curls back! That's it! No more haircuts! Not really, but I really did have tears over the whole thing! He did great though! No tears, no tantrums, no meltdowns! I can't say the same for the 2 year old who came in for his trim after Hunter...yikes!
Sunday was Poo Poo's Birthday party! It was so much fun, but oh so stressful! There were so many bodies in my house! I had really wanted to have the festivities outside, but summer wasn't going away without a fight, so with nearly 100 degree heat, we had the party inside. Hunter got some great gifts and my mom and I had made lots of yummy stuff to nibble on! Poo's cake was, well, all over! Do you think the ladies in the bakery remember that when little men mix up the blue frosting with the yellow frosting, they become little green men?! He was awfully tired by cake time and he kept rubbing his frosting covered hands over his eyes and I was soooo worried about it getting into his eyes, but Daddy saved the day and whisked the Hulk to the tub for a good scrub. Of course, now my tub needs a good scrub! I was so exhausted that by the time everyone left the house, I was asleep by 7! I'm so glad birthday parties are only once a year!!!I did manage to sew two of my three borders on my log cabin quilt. No, I'm not sharing any pictures until it's done! You'll just have to wait!

A quick look

Wanna see something pretty?!

Here's just a sneak peek of the top of my Christmas log cabin quilt, minus the three borders that I'll be adding onto it sometime this weekend. I have no idea when, because I'm having Hunter's one year birthday party on Sunday and I still have a house to clean and food to make!!!!

It's not a super close picture of the fabric detail, but I don't want to give away the whole cow yet, do I? I've gotta save something to show you later!

I'll show more of the loggious cabinous once I've added the borders and stuff. I've got a super cute idea for the embroidery that will be added later too!

Holding Out

I'm ashamed to say that I've been holding out on all of you. I'm sorry...but it's true.
I've decided to branch out and try something new. A log cabin lap blankey to be exact. Here's the deal though...I'm just not a huge fan of the log cabin. I'm sure a gasp just went up in the quilting community, but it's just not my cup o' tea! They're nice and all, but unless you're gonna add some beautiful applique to it, it just doesn't scream my name. Nevertheless, I'm going way out of my comfort zone here and attempting the loggious cabinous (it's the Latin term, I'm sure).
What's giving this project it's appeal for me? It's made out of Tidings! Yay!!!! I think Christmas fabric instantly makes any project better! Don't you think?! Isn't it pretty?! I just love it! What makes it great #2: My mom is making a loggious cabinous too!!! Yay for Mother/ Daughter projects!!!!!

The sickness never ends...

I got the text message yesterday that all mothers dread....the "your child is sick" text. Not just any "your child is sick", but "his throat is swelling shut, he's throwing up, and hasn't ate or drank anything." Fantastic.

Called the pediatrician's office who said that yes, I needed to bring him, and no, they didn't have any appointments later than 1:20. Sigh. Yes, Momma will take time off work to take in Poo Poo to see what's the scoop.

What is it about a little precpitation that causes drivers to "forget" how to drive properly and slow down to barely over a crawl? Especially in Oklahoma, you add rain or snow to the drving mix and people here wig out! Anyways, the insanely slow drivers made me 5 minutes late (which is a HUGE pet peeve of mine) to which the receptionist gave me the look of "why oh why can't patients be on time for their appointments?" Chick, give me a break.

The nurse calls us back, the doctor takes a look at my pride and joy, responds that he's just got the same allergy/sinus gunk that everyone else in Oklahoma has right now, but that he's just some major ear wax buildup that has to be forceably removed from my not-feeling-good little man. He proceds to tell me to hold my child down while he scrapes this wire hook into his ear to remove said wax. So naturally, what happens, my child SCREAMS and tries to get away...all the while the doctor is looking at me like I should be controlling my child better. Well how about this doc? I'm one stressed out frazzeled momma and if I'm not holding him down good enough....call a nurse! Needless to say, the wax was not removed and I've gotta bring him back in so they can try to remove the wax in a couple weeks and also to check on the DOUBLE EAR INFECTION that Poo Poo now has!

I need a sickness vacation. Somewhere nice where I can just sit in peace with some pretty fabric and my sewing machine and make some Christmas quilts! Christmas is getting closer and closer and I have nothing done!

Need Help!!!

My husband's cousin and wife, Troy and Ashleigh, are going to be having their first baby in January!!! Yay!!! They've been trying sooooooo long to get pregnant and now their sweet little boy will be here soon, which means I need to make another baby quilt. I'm going to do a disappearing nine patch quilt but I can't decide on the fabric.

Here's where ya'll come in!

Help me decide which fabric to make this baby bankey in and ....there could be a giveaway! Who knows!!!

I think I've narrowed it down to these two fabrics:
Let me know what you think, or if you have any suggestions on a different fabric I'm open to suggestions!

Holidays = Sick

What is it about holidays that equal sickness? It's Labor Day Weekend...I have Monday off work...and I get sick Friday night! Not just me mind you, Little Man got the crud too! Poor guy! He slept almost all weekend because he didn't feel good. :(

And, I think the crud has worked it's way to my brain, because the Hubby and I were watching Robin Hood while Hunter was napping.....the good Robin Hood, the one with Kevin Costner....and there was a scene where a woman birthed a baby, which immediately made me start bawling like a baby! My husband's eyes get HUGE and he says in a tone which makes me think he's about to run for cover, "What on earth is wrong with you!" To which I respond with, "Hunter's not that little anymore!!!!!" He starts laughing at me, calls me a fruitcake, and goes back to watching Mr. Costner. You know, I never thought I would be one of those women who would want lots of kids, and maybe I still don't want lots, but I can see why people have more than one child....the first one is so cute and cuddly but then gets bigger and you miss the littleness, so what happens, you have another one, and the cycle continues. You don't want to give up the littleness!
But with a face like this, how could you not want another one?! ------Except that I swore off even thinking about another babycakes until I loose all my baby weight...and I've got 5 pounds left! I set a goal of losing all the weight I gained by his first birthday which is in 15 days. I don't know if I'll lose those last 5 by then, but I feel so proud of myself for getting back into better shape than I was before I got pregnant! Of course, since I've been snotty for the past weekend I haven't got to work out at all, but that also means that I really didn't eat anything either, so it all balances out, right?
I hope everyone else had a great non-sick Labor Day weekend!!!

Love You Bunches!!!

Can any of you fabulous ladies out there in blogland tell me what pattern this table runner is?

I think it's so pretty, but I have no idea what it's called! It looks like a good "sometime in the future when I'm a better quilter" project. Speaking of, I just can't tell ya'll how much fun it is to converse back and forth! I love reading all your blogs and reading the emails that I receive! It just reaffirms how glad and blessed I am for trying out and falling in love with quilting! Ya'll are awesome and just so inspiring!
