Not Phillip nor Phyllis

Did everyone have a great Thanksgiving weekend?!
As usual I was super duper busy!

Friday night THE hunter was going to go hunting...but then changed his mind. Then MY Hunter was going to go to sleep.....but then changed his mind....all night :(
Satuday my Mom wanted to go to Bass Pro to grab some Christmas gifts for my Dad while he was out hunting, so we braved the crowds and went shopping. Soooooo stupid! Bass Pro was PACKED!!!! We tried to have MY Hunter take his (now) annual Santa picture at Bass Pro, but we would had to wait for almost 2 hours for Santa. Now I know ya'll don't exactly know my babycakes personally, but I'm sure you can imagine trying to entertain a 14-month-old for 2 hours when he's hungry and tired. I'd rather go head to head with a lion. Truely. No fun for all concerned. So we grabbed what we needed and skeddadled back home.

MY Hunter and I spent the night at my parents house and THE hunter returned Sunday morning with a change of clothes so that he could go to the lake house with my dad to crawl under the house and fix the duct work or the heating or whatever is wrong with the lake house. Either way someone was crawling under the house. One. Two. Three....NOT IT!!!!!! I was so not volunteering for that job! For whatever reason, there is no heat so the boys figured out that there was something torn up under the house. The consensus was that it was was Phillip and Phyllis, the groundhogs (or ground pigs as we like to call them) that were under the house tearing stuff up. lol, poor THE hunter. He crawled under the house to quickly find it was not Phillip nor Phyllis......it was a HUGE rat! HUGE!!!!! Yuck! I shudder just thinking about it. Ew.

On a less icky note: my Mom and I stayed up until 1am on Sunday working on my Secret Santa quilt! What make it fabulously awesome: all the Christmas movies we watched as we sewed! Christmas in Connecticut, The Bishop's Wife and then White Christmas!!!!
Of course I forgot to take pictures for ya'll, but I'll post my Santa's soon!
Have a happy day!

Secret Santa

Wow! What a weekend!

Friday after work I ran up to Collinsville to pick up THE hunter's processed deer carcass. Sounds tasty huh? Then I ran back to Owasso to Old Navy to grab anything grayish for our family pictures on Sunday! I found the cutest sweater there for CHEAP!!!!! Love Old Navy for the cheapness. Saturday was manual labor day at my parents house. THE hunter was trimming trees, while MY Hunter and I rode the 4-wheeler hauling the limbs to the fire pile. It was nice and warm though so it was not so laborious! Once we were done with that, my mom and I worked some more on our Buggy Barn Secret Santa quilt. I have more done than just this one, but you get what you get! Sunday was family picture day at Claremore Lake and overhaul the house day! How does a house with only 3 people get dirty so quickly?! Do you think it has anything to do with the fact that 2 out of 3 are male?! Pictures were.......difficult to say the least. MY Hunter wouldn't smile for anything...not even goldfish crackers. Sit in the pile of leaves? No. Smile. Not gonna happen. Sit still. Yeah right! All I know is that our photographer had her work cut out for her! Did everyone else have a great weekend?!

Oh What A Beautiful Morning.....

This morning, I strap MY Hunter into his car seat, back down the driveway, turn east onto Will Rogers Blvd, and on the horizon is the most beautiful sunrise I have ever seen! The sun hadn't quite broken, so the sky was painted with gorgeous blues, pinks, purples, grays, and yellows! I wish I could have taken a picture, but I figured it would be more safety prudent to not put my child's life in danger for a picture....but oh how gorgeous!!!!

It just makes you want to break into song:

It's just amazing what God gifts us with when we take the time to slow down and NOTICE the beauty He gives!!! Have a wonderfully joyful day!

Cookin'

Here's a question for all you moms out there:
What do you fix for supper every night???!!!!
By the time I get home from work, it's 5:30ish and the boys are starving!
I've never been good about coming up with something to make for supper for more than just myself and now I have a big boy and a little boy who think it's Momma's job to figure out what we're all having for supper. Sigh.
Do any of you lovely ladies have any suggestions on something quick and easy to make for supper during the week? I'm pretty sure I heard THE hunter say if he has to eat Hamburger or Tuna Helper one more time he's boycotting! What he's going to eat during the boycotting I don't know, but I just don't have any ideas!
Help!!!!

New Quilt/ New Class 1...check!

Stained glass quilt number 1....finished (kinda)!

I still need to stitch down all the pieces, but it's pretty much done!

1) Stitch down the pieces (maybe even a purple metallic for the wings!)

2) batting and backing (not hard)

3) binding (ugh)

4) hanging sleeve (never attempted)

...so yeah, kinda done!

Tonight my Mom and I start New Quilt/New Class 2...

It's the Santa Baby pattern....but I've renamed it.
That's a boring name (sorry designer)
It shall now be referred to as: Secret Santa, because it looks like Santa is hiding behind the trees.
Mine isn't going to look like this one. I'm using the same Tidings fabric that I used in my log cabin quilt, so there'll be a lot more greens, blues, golds, and the like!
I'm loving it already!

Log cabin...check!

It's done!!!!!

Well, ya'll knew that, but here's the pictures to prove it!
My very first log cabin...is....done!!!!

I really like it a lot more than I thought I was going to.
Now I want to get working on Sue's fall leaves log cabin pattern! Beautiful!

Of course, that's after I finish the stained glass dragonfly quilt I just started.....

and the "Secret" Santa quilt that I'm starting the class for tomorrow!

So here's a close up of the quilting detail

And here's a close up of the pretty binding detail. I did something a little different with this binding than usual. I don't have any traces of binding on the back.at.all. I pulled it all around to the front so that there would be more room to do the pretty stitches on the front!

Different, but pretty I think!

And here's a reminder of the "before"!

New Class/ New Quilt 1

Happy Voting Day all you fellow Americans! I hope each and every one of you vote today...even if it's just voting for your favorite ice cream! Speaking of, I know today will be an awesome day because......I was stuck behind the Blue Bell ice cream truck this morning on my way to work! I mean, he wasn't throwing any ice cream at me from out the back doors of this truck, but still...think of all the ice cream in there! Mmmmmmm!

Today, my Mom and I start a new quilting class today at the Quilt Sampler in Tulsa. It's a stained glass window piece called Dragonfly Garden by Three Swans Studios in Canada. They are the sweetest ladies....yes, I called Canada and spoke with them! I've always loved real stained glass windows, so what better way to love it more, than to make a quilt version! I'm so so so excited to learn how to make this! Love it!

Yes, I know...I need to post pictures of my Christmas log cabin quilt! It's finally got the binding on, so I'll post a pic of it soon!

Since THE hunter was out hunting in Kansas, my Mom, MY Hunter, and I went to Bixby last weekend to check out a quilt store that we had saw at the Claremore Quilt Show the weekend before. Log Cabin Quilts was soooooo cute! The store actually is in a log cabin and has the BEST stuff!

They didn't have as much fabric to choose from than say a bigger store in a bigger town like Tulsa, but the fabric they did have was 1) cheaper and 2) was a lot better fabric to choose from! I even found some Elm Creek Quilt fabric! Have you read those books yet? Well....you should! Anyways, we got all our fabric for the Dragonfly quilt and we had a great time. We might just go back this weekend too!

Have a great ice cream-filled day!
